Blessed Is The King Who Comes

Published 10 April 2022 by John Conrad Lee in // Upward

It’s Palm Sunday, and we welcome the King!

Blessed is Christ Jesus, who comes in the name of the Lord.

    From the house of the Lord we bless you.

The Lord is God,

    and he has made his light shine on us.

With palm branches in hand, join in the festal procession

    up to the horns of the altar.

Jesus came to earth in the power and authority of God, but he came as a servant king – gently, softly, humbly.

Jesus made himself nothing

    by taking the very nature of a servant,

    being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man,

    he humbled himself

    by becoming obedient to death –

        even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place

    and gave him the name that is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,

    to the glory of God the Father.

Even though Jesus is God himself, yet he came to be a human just like us, so he could die as our Saviour. That’s why we praise him!

You are my God, and I will praise you;

    you are my God, and I will exalt you.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;

    his love endures forever.

Dear friend, let us bow and praise Jesus, for it gives glory to God our Father!

Psalm 118: 26-29 NIV

Philippians 2:7-11

Dear Father,

As your children, we gather in this house to worship Jesus, and Jesus alone! We believe that he has come to earth in your power and in your name!

Jesus is king, and he has defeated the power of sin and death and hell. So in the Name of Jesus, we rebuke every evil that we have allowed in our lives!

We say today and every day, that Jesus is Lord, and Jesus is King, and Jesus shall have the glory today and forevermore!

We worship you Lord Jesus, for you are truly the one and only King of kings and Lord of lords!

In Jesus’ Name we pray,

Amen!
